Katherine Destafney Thompson
Age 88, of Kennett Square, PA, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Thompson Sr. who died in 1992 and with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Gilson Destafney
Katherine was a devoted member of St. Patrick Church where she volunteered cleaning, was a member of the Ladies of St. Patrick and participated in numerous church functions. In earlier years she enjoyed bowling but most of all, her joy and passion was her family.
Survivors include five sons, Mark D. Thompson and his wife Jo Beth of Kennett Square, Louis P. Thompson of Cottonwood, AZ, Donald G. Thompson and Paula of Landenberg, PA, Gerald D. Thompson and his wife Margaret of Cochranville, PA, and Michael J. Thompson of Kennett Square; one brother, Raymond Destafney of Los Angeles, CA; and twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law N. Diane Thompson of Kennett Square. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son Robert M. Thompson Jr. in 2008.
You are invited to visit with Katherine's family from 6-8 pm Wednesday, August 15, and from 8:30-9:30 am Thursday, August 16 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc., 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to Kennett Area Community Service or KACS, PO Box 1025, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
